House Painting

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

While the weather was nice this week, we decided to have The White House on Park Avenue Bed & Breakfast painted. A hailstorm knocked a few paint chips off earlier this summer. In addition, the crew did some roofing, stained and sealed the back deck, and tuck-pointed the chimneys. There’s always something to do, eh?

After power washing to get loose paint off the house, the guys are doing a fantastic job,. They should be done by Saturday, weather permitting.

One-year anniversary!

Monday, July 20th, 2009

This past weekend marked our one-year anniversary as innkeepers at The White House on Park Avenue! We have enjoyed tremendously all of our guests, including our very first guests. In fact, we are going to see Dave and Gretchen this weekend as they come to visit family. Sally and I look forward to many more years of entertaining overnight guests at The White House on Park Avenue.

Our official ribbon-cutting was August 8, 2008 (08-08-08) so here’s a picture of the momentus occasion.

Become a fan of The White House on Park Avenue on Facebook! If you have a Facebook account, go to and become a fan.

You’ll get updates on the happenings around Rensselaer, news from innkeepers Sally and Fred, and keep in touch. There’s even a link to this blog on the page.

What a relief from hot weather! Last night we threw the windows open, shut off the air conditioners, and enjoyed overnight temps in the 50s! With the rain that went through two nights ago, the gardens are looking great.

I leave you with some of Sally’s beautiful flowers…

Long time, no blog?

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Summer has been very busy at The White House on Park Avenue Bed and Breakfast, and blogging has taken a back-burner. Not only have we enjoyed entertaining overnight guests, but we’ve had two grandchildren born, two months apart! One boy, one girl, and of course as cute as could be.

Jeffery Adam was born April 11 and Anne Genevieve was born June 22.

A picture for your enjoyment… Annie has the pink hat on…
