I can almost see spring from here…

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Hi, everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, and we’ve been busy at The White House on Park Avenue! That’s a GOOD thing in this unstable economy, though. In February we’ve welcomed parents of Saint Joseph’s College students, our corporate clients, guests attending family reunions, couples on getaways and anniversaries, and other fascinating travelers. We have a couple of wedding events planned in the upcoming months, and some private parties scheduled at The White House on Park also.

Recently I was in Pasadena and heard a talk by travel guru Rick Steves, of “Europe Through the Backdoor” and PBS fame. Rick has books, dvds, travel guides, maps, audio walking tours, podcasts, and a website in addition to his travel store with great ideas and products. I admit that I’ve been a Rick Steves junkie ever since my first trip to Europe with a borrowed Rick Steves rucksack. He has a unique approach to traveling and packing light, and it makes sense. As I heard him say “I’ve never had someone come back from a trip saying ‘I need to take more things next time.’ ”

It was a great 2 hour talk and Q&A with Rick, and I got my picture taken with him.
