Holiday Guests

Monday, December 29th, 2008

We are delighted to have Sally’s family visiting in the time after Christmas and through the New Year! Her mom and dad from Oklahoma, brother and wife from Venezuela, aunt from Texas and cousin and family from Switzerland all will be making The White House their home-away-from-home this week. Photos are of Sally’s brother Karl and his wife Jennifer, and the group singing Christmas songs around the baby grand piano, with Sally’s mom Doris playing piano, Karl, Sally’s dad Robert, Fred’s Dad Ray, and Jennifer.

Ice Storm 2008

Friday, December 19th, 2008

We’ve yet to officially begin winter, but northern Indiana had a brush with it the past couple of days. We received about 1/4″ of ice overnight, just enough to knock the power out for about 7 hours. I went out and took some pictures – it wasn’t as bad as the ice storm of the 90s, when some folks in the area lost power for over a week.

Family and friends will be gathering at The White House in the next couple of weeks, along with the occasional overnight guest. Merry Christmas!!

Sally and I are both professors, and this week is final exam week. It’s a busy time, but we enjoy wrapping up the semester and look forward to the many holiday open houses and gatherings with friends that comes with the season. We have returning overnight corporate guests coming this week to The White House, and we welcome them back!

I thought I’d share a night photo …

Christmas at The White House

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

We welcomed our Dallas, Texas guests for three days over Thanksgiving, and Sally soon began unpacking the many boxes of Christmas decorations for our first Christmas in The White House. You know when you think you have way too many ornaments and Christmas knick-knacks? I did. Until we started decorating the house. Everything has its place, and the house looks beautiful!

At the end of the month, Sally’s family will be visiting: from Switzerland, Venezuela, Texas and Oklahoma. We can’t wait to see everyone!
